Juniper
The levity.

Juniper — Junie, to everyone who knows her — arrived through a mustang adoption program, half-wild and entirely curious. She's the youngest in the herd and the least interested in decorum. She investigates pockets, nudges elbows, lips at jacket zippers. She's playful in a way that can catch people off guard, especially those who came expecting something solemn. And that's precisely the point. Grief doesn't only need gravity. Sometimes it needs a horse who steals your hat. Junie works particularly well with young people, who often recognize something in her restlessness, and with adults carrying heavy loads who've forgotten that lightness is allowed. She's not a distraction from the work — she's a reminder that the work doesn't have to feel like punishment.
