Trauma-informed talk therapy for the things that need talking about.
Counselling at Foothills is grounded in relational, trauma-informed practice. That means we start where you are — not where a protocol says you should be. Sessions draw on psychodynamic, somatic, and attachment-based approaches depending on what fits, and the emphasis is always on building a relationship where honest exploration feels safe enough to begin.
This is not a six-week program with a workbook. It's a space to look at whatever needs looking at — grief, anxiety, relational pain, identity, transitions, old patterns that no longer serve you — at a pace that respects your nervous system and your story.
Sessions are 50 minutes, one-on-one, and typically take place weekly or biweekly. We meet in a quiet, comfortable space on the property — or outdoors when that feels right. There's no clipboard. No intake questionnaire that asks you to rate your sadness on a scale of one to ten. We talk. We listen. We follow what emerges.
Some sessions are heavy. Some are quiet. Some are surprising. The consistency of showing up is often where the real work begins.
Counselling here is traditional talk therapy — just done in a trauma-informed, relationally grounded way. Equine-assisted therapy brings a horse into the therapeutic process as a co-regulator and mirror. Some clients do both; some do one or the other. We'll help you figure out what fits.
No. You can reach out directly. If it makes sense to involve your GP or another provider, we can coordinate — but it's not required to get started.
If something on this page resonated, reach out. There's no pressure and no commitment — just a conversation about whether this might be a fit.
